If you don't know what the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour is, you're in for a treat. The festival features quality mountain films on adventure, mountain sports and culture, often spanning the globe.
It has been a very strange year to say the least and for over 20 years one of our annual staples of community building fun has been the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour. This year, because of the pandemic, we obviously cannot safely host the World Tour in our city. Instead the Banff Centre has put together two programs (to start) and then possibly two more later in the season, January and April, for their World Tour programs.
You can buy tickets to screen the films virtually at home. This streaming option will work as follows:
Q: How long do viewers have access to the online programs they purchase?
A: Viewers can purchase a single program and will have full access to it for 3 days. They also have the option to purchase a bundle or grouping of two or more programs and will likely have access to that bundle for a 2 week period (we are confirming this time frame with filmmakers). Viewers can access the film program(s) they purchased at leisure throughout the purchase or rental period and stream them through their favourite streaming devices to their TV or through their laptops and home computers.
Q: How do I pay for the programs?
A: The programs will be on sale through the affiliate link we've provided only, beginning Thursday, November 26th. We will not be handling any ticket sales this year except to provide you with the link in our newsletters and on our website. Our understanding as of our last communications with the Banff Centre were that two programs will be made available to you to start (Program A and Program B), which you can purchase individually for $15 each or you can buy the first two programs as a bundle for $28. Pricing is subject to change! Additionally, if you buy the bundle, our understanding is that you will have a longer time to view the films, up to two weeks as opposed to 72 hours. We'll know more in a few days.
I'm sure you'll have plenty more questions, and if you do, please email me at [email protected] and I'll try to get back to you as quickly as possible. Unfortunately we're likely heading into another busy week and we only have two phone lines if we're going to curbside and online orders, so emails are our preferred method of communication in order to get back to you in a timely fashion.
Thanks for your patience, remember to #TakeItOutside and stay safe out there.
